Barry has been fortunate to live on both ends of the Appalachian Mountain range in Eastern North America. He was born and raised on the coast of New Hampshire. The 2nd half of his life he has called East Tennessee and the Smoky Mountains his home.
In 2004, Barry began putting together his portfolio in hopes to sell his work upon his retirement. In 2007, he retired and began his 2nd career as a Nature and Wildlife Photographer. He started selling his work at both indoor and outdoor events.
By 2015, he had a large enough following to open his first gallery in Townsend Tennessee. He outgrew that space in just 2 years and in 2017 he opened his current space, The Cades Cove Gallery. In 2018, Barry began teaching photography at the university, speaking for clubs around the SouthEast and guiding on a regular basis in the Smoky Mountains.
Barry spends the majority of his time in photography guiding and teaching. He travels all over the Eastern USA guiding, teaching and presenting on his knowledge of almost 50 years of photography.
One thing is certain, it is never just about taking photographs. He will be the first to tell you that when you spend time with him, it is always about the experience of each and every destination. This is the reason for his clients using him year after year as a guide and why he is asked time and again to speak to clubs about numerous aspects of nature photography.
Each and every one of his clients reviews are a testimony of their appreciation of his passion to teach and share beauty in nature.
